When I first realized that I wanted to specialize in capturing motherhood, it came as a surprise, even to myself.
You can argue that most of what we create and put out into the world is a form of self portraiture.
In every portrait of a mother I capture, there is also a little bit of myself: seeing my own journey in theirs, and fostering a connection between our shared experience.
That connection and desire to understand that every woman’s journey into motherhood is different is my “why.”
The truth is, motherhood can be a very lonely experience — whether it’s undergoing hormone treatment, stumbling into the baby’s room for the 7th time in the same night, massaging the clogged ducts in your breasts, researching for hours about infant sleep, feeding, what a “cough that sounds like a seal” sounds like, or simply speaking kind words to yourself when the day has barely begun and you already wish it were over …
I’m here to help make these experiences a little less lonely, and to let you know that I see you, mama, and your experience is worth capturing today.
