It was Labor Day Weekend, and a series of torrential wildfires were raging across our state: two that were newly incited less than 50 miles from us. Temperatures were up past the hundreds, leaving the air almost unbreathable, heavy with smoke & heat.
These are the conditions in which a 38 week expectant mother, Mei, her husband, Andrew, and little Emily graciously allowed me to photograph them. I had such a great time, and it seems, so did Emily — who frolicked and sprinted to pick up rocks, sticks, and any treasures she could find!
A picture is worth a thousand words, but upon seeing these dreamy, ethereal, romantic images of an open hills, you might never have guessed the lengths taken (and the air conditioning given up!) to capture them.
