From French Pastry Chef to Fine Art Photographer

Before I ever picked up a camera professionally, I trained as a French pastry chef in Paris — and it was there that I met my husband, Alex. Today, Alex often assists me during sessions, making our work a true family collaboration.

I later earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UCLA, where I developed a deep understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and the emotional resonance of light. Years spent painting and studying the nuances of human connection continue to shape how I photograph my clients today.

After becoming a mother to our two beautiful children — and adopting our spirited husky pup, Frodo Barkins — I felt an even deeper urgency to document the fleeting, sacred seasons of early parenthood. That calling became the heartbeat of Tiffany Chi Photography.

My approach is personalized, relational, and deeply intentional. I don’t just photograph what a moment looks like — I strive to capture what it feels like. My work is soft, natural, light, and airy, often touched with an ethereal, romantic quality. Whether it’s the glow of maternity, the raw emotion of birth, or the delicate details of a newborn, my goal is to highlight authentic love and connection.

This journey hasn’t always been easy. One of my greatest challenges as a natural light maternity and newborn photographer in Southern California has been staying true to my creative voice in a competitive, trend-driven industry.

I’ve learned that not every inquiry is the right fit, and that it’s okay — even necessary — to lovingly turn away work that doesn’t align with the intentional, relational fine art experience I offer. Comparison has also been a challenge, but focusing on what makes my work unique — the softness, depth, emotion, and timeless artistry — has helped me attract the clients who truly value what I do.
