I am overjoyed to share with everyone these Sneak Peek Images from the Chen Family’s Outdoor Newborn Session! Little Eleanor Grace joined the world at 6 lbs, 11 oz. and was a mere twelve days old in these photographs.

There is nothing in the world quite as sacred and special as holding a newborn baby just days old in your arms. I never cease to marvel at the divine details woven into the biology of their little bodies: from the soft wisps of hairs on their skin, to the intricate folds in their fingers, and the most delicate feathery eyelashes. All of these little details remind me of how purposefully and lovingly we are created.

This Newborn Session is particularly dear to my heart, as it is of family. Jonathan (my older brother) and Cheryl had previously walked through a difficult season of infertility with their first daughter, and my niece, Gloria, who was conceived through IVF (in vitro fertilization), subsequently diagnosed with in-utero chromosomal insufficiencies, and then miraculously born 100% healthy with no genetic disorders.

So, it was a joyous and wonderful surprise and gift from God when we received the news that they were expecting with their second child, as an unplanned surprise, after all the doctor’s visits, negative pregnancy tests, and thousands of hormone injections, disappointments, and waiting.

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life will be given over to the Lord.”

1 Samuel 1:27-28a

It has been a privilege to bear witness to their unwavering faith and courage to continue to move forward amidst the unknown, and to hold these little miracles in my arms, to watch them grow, knowing that God has created them with so much purpose. I’m grateful to have been able to capture these fleeting and precious moments of their family story: a testament to the abundance of God’s love & providence. Sending my deepest congratulations to Jon & Cheryl.
