She nervously wiggled her sandy toes as her feet dangled above the icy waters. The sunlight poured itself around her, setting each curly strand of her hair ablaze, catching her gaze as she peeked over her mother’s shoulder — mesmerized by the dancing waves behind them.
Then, with her head buried against her mother’s chest, she wrapped herself inward, as she was accustomed to doing, in all the familiar memories of being held safely in these arms.
