I’m so excited to share with you this sweet family’s Session Gallery. Renee and Morgan together have two little girls, Elodie and Remmi, who both celebrated their birthdays this month! Elodie was a fun, spirited and energetic 3 year old who ran circles around us and could melt every heart in a room with her sweet laughs and giggles. Remmi, who just turned one, in contrast, was so calm, curious, and affectionate — content to watch her sister play, and snuggle in her parents’ arms.

My favorite thing right now [about motherhood] is having actual conversations with my toddler and getting to know her likes and dislikes, her interests and anything she wants to talk about. Sometimes it’s still toddler gibberish but it’s interesting and hilarious!

With my little one, I’m cherishing the moments that I still get to snuggle and cuddle her and watch her when she’s asleep in my arms.

Photographing at The Stonehurst Venue, Los Angeles was such a treat! I had never been to this location before, but there were so many beautiful areas that we eventually decided to do both indoor and outdoor images. The indoor photographs were taken at a beautiful vintage bungalow onsite that dates back to the 1920s and is over a century old, and the outdoor photographs were mainly taken by a cactus garden behind a beautiful rustic barn.

The moment my first daughter was born and they placed her on me for skin to skin [was life-changing]. I never knew if I was ready to be a mother or if I would even be a good one, but once I had her in my arms, I knew that I would be the best one that I could for her. At that moment I understood how it felt to be a mom and to have your heart feel so full it could burst.

One of the reasons why I love photographing families is my opportunity to bear witness to an everyday kind of love — the details full of love and character that we miss and forget. Whether it’s documenting the way that you slung your baby on your hip, threw your toddler on your back, the face that your daughter used to make when she was excited, or the way your son clutched your hand while the two of you walked together and the urgent tug when he wanted to show you something …

These are the details that gently fade into forgotten memory as the years pass by.

As a photographer, I am able to hold up a mirror to show you that even though you may not know what you’re doing as a parent, that these details captured are proof that despite the not-knowing, that there was love.
